Making Robots - Part 2!

If you've missed "Making Robots!" part one, you can catch all the fun here :)

A year later, our robot has become a little more sophisticated - most notably with moving parts! What most amazed me during all this was how much more 'structured' his imagination was. Whereas last year it was a simple "glue and stick" philosophy when it come to construction, this year, he really built the robot with a vision.

He gave it a face, hair, arms and even shoes! I love watching this kid grow and learn :)

Hope everyone is having a great weekend :)

A big day!... with an equally big post.

My friend is currently becoming an auntie! :) Her SIL was due today, and went into labour some time this afternoon/evening. They are just waiting on the call to say he's here. How exciting for her!!

As for me, I'm still waiting for little boy to make his appearance. But we won't talk about that... at least not directly...

When I was in labour for Hunter, my mom was by my side the whole time. She was responsible for my left leg, and my hubby was responsible for my right leg! They made an incredibly awesome support team. So much so that I knew I needed both of them with me again for this one.

As a "thank you", and a little token of appreciation for making my mother watch such an event, I made her a little brag book for the hospital pictures she's bound to take. While browsing around Dawn's Stamping Studio -one of my favourite places to browse!- I found this tutorial for an adorable mini album. I know it was perfect. Thanks to her amazing ability to make videos, creating it was a breeze!

"Welcome Baby" mini album

I had SO much fun making this... The image to the left is what it looks like when it's open. I added to "different" pages to the front and back.

The middle pages are Whisper White cardstock, and are for all the pictures themselves. There are 6 in total.

The last page (if you can tell from the photo on the left) is a piece of Pool Party cardstock, where I intend to write a quick "thank you for being there" note.
The page at the front says "welcome baby", and is where she can write the date, time, weight and height of Baby Boy when all that is know... She has impeccable handwriting, so I'll let her do that part herself ; )

It's a piece of DSP from the "Pocketful of Posies" series, with a Whisper White sheet for writing, and another piece of Pool Party where I stamped "Welcome Baby".

Materials used:
Cardstock :: Pool Party (SU), Whisper White (SU), Navy blue (Recollections)
Stamps :: "Memories" from Define Your Life set (SU), "Welcome Baby" and Diaper Pin from Short & Sweet set (SU)
Ink :: Blue Bayou (SU), Pool Party (SU)
Paper :: "Pcoketful of Posies" DSP (SU)
Tools :: 2-way gluepen (SU), Dimensionals (SU), Decorative Label punch (SU), Scallop Oval Punch (SU)

I have a little something for my husband as well, to give him in the hospital, but that will have to wait until the big day to be revealed. It's not homemade, but I think it's still pretty awesome.

While I was in my crafty corner of the basement, I also put together this card for this week's Less is More challenge! This week, we were challenged with a one-layer card (love doing these!), with the theme of "Seeing double"! Fun. Fun. (I know, I'm so clever).
Together
(LIM WK32)

No supplies were harmed in the making of these card!
Cardstock :: Crumb Cake (SU)
Stamp :: Have a Seat (SU), "Together" from Define Your Life set (SU)
Ink :: Chocolate Chip (SU)
Embellishments :: Embroidery Floss
Tools ::
Corner rounder (EK)

This card makes me really happy. I was so looking forward to owning this stamp set, and it didn't let me down. Much love goes out to the chairs.

Now, to wait on more news!...

I did it!

I finally did it. I took advantage of the August Stampin' Up! promotion and ordered me some Designer Series Paper. Yippee! I'm so thrilled.

Pocket Full of Posies
(I think it's a shame they advertise their DSPs like this on the website -
mainly because you can't see how completely awesome it is!!)

Beyond the Garden
Today, my hubby and son are off to a wedding. I was supposed to be attending as well, but seeing as I've been having contractions lately, it's 30C outside, and the wedding is in the middle of a golf course (with quite the walk to get there!), I've been 'ordered' to stay home. Bed-rest is very bitter sweet!

Here are my handsome guys on their way to the big event. Little HBo was less than impressed about getting his picture taken today.

Normally, he's all smiles for pictures! I snapped this one the other day. We had just finished playing with his new "Melissa & Doug" transportation stamps, so I completely understand the ear to ear grin! I look like that after playing with stamps too...

Enjoying pretty papers and handsome boys...

A Carnival Party!

For the past month or so, we have been planning "The Party to End All Parties" - This is our little boy's last birthday party as an only child, so we wanted to make it extra special. We brainstormed themes till we were blue in the face! After doing a "Toy Story" theme last year (which was actually a great success), we decided against something a little less "commercial".

So, after much hum-ing and ha-ing, we settled on the fantastic CARNIVAL theme. Yes, a day at the carnival can not be forgotten! Nor should it.

HBo's Carnival Birthday Party - Happy 3rd birthday, kiddo!

His first taste of Cotton Candy!

"Pin the Nose on the Clown"
When asked if he had 'put his nose on the clown yet', out super-awesome little boy walked over to the clown poster, took off his hat, and touched his nose to the clown. Like I said, he makes us laugh every single day! xox

The "Pyramid" game, with the "Bouncy Castle" in the background:
Face Painting:

The "Basketball" game:

Food and Drinks:

Loot Bags and Cupcakes:
The kids got a sheet of tickets when they first arrived that they used for the various games around the yard. At each game, they won a prize that they put in their loot bag. All loot bags had their names on them - When the kiddies came in for cakes/presents, us adults loaded the bags up with cotton candy, thank you notes, a balloon on a stick and caramel popcorn. They were a big hit!

Blowing out the candles:

a very special one!

The Great Unveil

So, the time has come, the great 'unveil'.

HBo's big-boy room has been finished (and lived in!) for over a month now. I think it's time I get into the swing of things and finally post the end result - which, if I do say so myself, is awesome.

The "Before" pictures come with the following preface:

Dear viewer,
If you are visiting this blog, you are, no doubt 1 of 2 things: 1) incredibly fantastic, or 2) a relative or close friend who I have given the link to. In all likelihood, you are both (which makes you 3, I think). The reason you are so incredibly fantastic is that you know and (inevitably) love me for all that I am; even the flaws. Below, in the "before" picture you are about to witness, you will notice that I care very little about my spare room and keeping it tidy. And yes, as a matter of fact, I DID let my mother spend the night in that thing - I assure you though, it wasn't quite
that bad. Not quite...

Thank you,
Tara

On with it..

Before:

During!:

AFTER!:

HBo's exact words upon opening the door for the first time were: "Oh my gosh!! I don't believe this". His parental units done did good, I think.

We are so happy he loves it...
