A burst of colour

With all the comfort food, crunching leaves, and fireplace fires going on these days, there's no doubt it's fall! But I was in the mood for something a little more colourful today.

Using the Mojo Monday sketch, this was my attempt at recapturing the essence of summer (bright colours and pears! yum). And believe it or not - those cute little brackets were made using the Stampin' Up! Decorative Label punch. I LOVE finding new ways to use punches.

Key to my heart

"I got this from the school library. Did you know you could just borrow books from there?!" - Finn Hudson

I started watching "Glee". My sister-in-law lent it to me, and it's become my secret obsession :) This line cracked me up...

Anyway... moving on ;)

Made this card for two challenges: Mojo Monday sketch, and ColourQ colour challenge.

Mojo Card!

*This is my second entry into Mojo Monday challenge. I made a scrapbook page (see previous post) using the sketch, and loved it so much I wanted to make a card with it as well. Again, here is the wicked-awesome sketch:

I've been dying to use the "Beyond the Garden" DSP from SU on a bigger scale for a long time now, and thought this would be the perfect layout/design for it.

Essence of Love

I think I'm actually going to have to make a concentrated effort not to make yet another card using this sketch!! Did I mention I love it?

Mojo Scrapbooking!

I can't believe it. 15 months later, I have finally started working on our wedding scrapbook again. Today, it was the Mojo Monday weekly challenge that got me going!! Thank you, Mojo, I so appreciate it!

To the right is the lovely sketch (so lovely, in fact, that I made a card too once I was done this scrapbook page. I'll blog about that soon)

I had the papers and embellishments picked out and slipped into the protective sheet now since the end of June 2010. I had kind of forgotten that I had all this stuff picked out already, so when I opened up the scrapbook and saw it all sitting there I was really excited.

Our Wedding
(MOJO209)

*I would like to add a disclaimer to this photo*
It is not actually as uneven/lopsided in person as it may appear here.

I saved a lot of stuff from our wedding for the purpose of scrapbooking - which is why it's surprising that it took me so long to actually do it!

First, and likely the most obvious, is our colour scheme: brown, green, pink and ivory. We got married at a sugar bush, and wanted something very natural.

The ribbons for the bow were from two separate parts of the wedding.

The brown picot satin ribbon was from our invitations and from the tags we used for our guestbook.

The brown "We tied the knot!" ribbon was what we used to tie the "thank you" notes to our favours (little bottles of maple syrup). Clever, no?

Instead of flowers, we used a lot of feathers. My sister-in-law does bobbin lace (incredibly intricate work), and made me a pink flower to wear in my hair. I added some small white feathers to it, and a circle of beads. Both of those are used (see right).

The brown feather from the image was the basis of the groomsman's boutonnieres. Derek, being the lucky duck that he is, got an ivory feather instead of brown (you can see it in our actual wedding pic).

I loved our wedding. Not trying to toot my horn or anything - but it was such an amazingly special day. We had SO much fun. It was laid back and turned out exactly the way we wanted it to. No stress, no mess :)

I'm glad that I did this today, it made me feel very happy to relive the awesomeness of those moments.

Thank you, Thank you!

I made a trip to IKEA today. It infuriated me to no end... I ended up leaving without getting anything. However, while waiting for IKEA to open, I browsed around Michael's and found the perfect (seriously though) frames for the "Have a Seat" project.

Now I just need to wait for the stamps and the "Well Worn" DSP to arrive and I can start to create.

I made some more thank you cards using the Mojo Monday sketch. The patterned paper was a very happy find at Michael's this morning :)

And remember this post where I talked about that tiny bit of "Kiwi Kiss" I had left? It's gone... and so is the tiny piece of Kiwi Kiss ribbon.

Honestly, I'm not even sure what I'm going to do without this colour! I know that Pear Pizzaz and the new Lucky Limeade are close... but there were so many times where Kiwi Kiss was just, well, right.

Thank you

2 for 1 Christmas

Time to get my mojo workin....

Today, I decided to do two versions of the Mojo Monday sketch because I loved it so much. Also... I just can't seem to get enough of the "Dasher" stamp from Stampin' Up! Here's the sketch I was working with today:

And below you will find the two cards I made using that sketch as inspiration!

Dasher on Doily
(MOJO204)

Dasher - Very Merry
(MOJO204)

Materials -
Cardstock :: Whisper White (SU)
Ink :: Chocolate Chip (SU), Riding Hood Red (SU)
Stamps :: Dasher (SU), "Very Merry" from the Short & Sweet Set (SU)
Etc :: Lrg oval punch (SU), Scalloped oval punch (SU), corner rounder, Pearl dots, dimensionals (SU), red brads, paper doily.

And, as a wee bonus, because I just can't help myself - this is a link to my husband's blues band (hubby plays the drums, my father-in-law is singing). They do a cover of "Mojo", which sadly is not on the website, but you can check out 4 other covers they do under the audio section.
ROLLIN' STEADY

Feeling bluesy, but in a good way!...

Combination Platter

Today, I combined two challenges into one. I figured I've been entering so many of these (what's this obsession all about, anyways? How can one get addicted so quickly?) that I should perhaps try and combine a colour challenge with a sketch challenge.

All day long at work I'm forced to think about efficiency. Perhaps it's that I just can't help myself but try and find the most effective way to complete two tasks by a given deadline ; )

Not that I find crafting to be a "task". Quite the contrary in fact. I enjoy myself immensely when I can sit and make a card.

Pals Paper Arts challenge is where the colours came from. I'm SO loving the Lucky Limeade (SUs new In Colour), and I find that it creeps up in so many of my cards (take a peek, you'll see!). PPA has also added in Island Indigo and Daffodil Delight (which I don't own, so I had to go generic for that one).

And then over at Mojo Monday, they have a lovely sketch that I followed. I had a hard time picking a sentiment for this card, so I decided to go with "Celebrate" since it's so very generic.

Celebrate
(PPA105)
(MOJO203)

Materials -
*Burgundy text is Stampin' Up! product line
Paper :: "Flight" from the Birdwatching Series by Recollections
Cardstock :: Lucky Limeade, Island Indigo, White, Yellow
Ink :: Island Indigo
Stamps :: "Celebrate" from the Lexicon of Love set
Etc :: Dimensionals, Kiwi Kiss ribbon, pearl dots

Time to reassemble my dining room and hide the scraps again...

A Mojo Monday Challenge

I'm all about "firsts" these days! and in keeping with the uncomfortableness of stepping outside of my "own little world", I have decided not only to do the Mojo Monday challenge, but actually submit it.

Look at me grow.

I saw the sketch, and I wasn't quite sure what I was going to do with it - until, that is, I noticed (out of my exceptional amazing peripheral vision) this robot paper I had bought ages ago to do something for my son. With his birthday coming up, I knew it was good timing!

Celebrate my son, celebrate like it's your last days as an 'only child' :)
(MOJO202)
