Friday Mashup on Tuesday :)

The Friday Mashup has a fun challenge this week! "It's a Wrap" challenge gave the following options for submissions:

1. Make a project featuring a "Belly Band"

2. Or make a project using "Twine"

3. Or, Mash it up and create a project "Using Twine with a Belly Band".

I chose #3 again. I love being able to mash it up. And every time I hear or see "Mash it Up", my brain somehow brings me to the Shake a Tail Feather scene in the Blues Brothers movie... And the only reason I can think of is because they say "do the mash potato". You should watch the link - you'll love it :) Ray Charles is lovely.

ScareEasy Challenge #2

It's time for me to challenge myself again. Last week, I posted about missing art, and as a result was starting my own weekly challenges to myself. You can read more about that here.

So today, I bring you challenge #2.

Male and Female - Jackson Pollock
Jackson Pollock is an American painter, and considered the commanding figure of the Abstract Expressionist movement. The reasons I love Pollock are all summed up quite nicely in this quote by him from 1947:

"On the floor I am more at ease, I feel nearer, more a part of the painting, since this way I can walk around in it, work from the four sides and be literally `in' the painting."

Although the painting I chose is traditionally un-Pollock (in that it's more visually representative), the colours are style that are so often associated to him are still apparent.

And, as a fun little aside, if you visit this site, you can create your own Pollock-esque art with just the click of your mouse :) Scroll around and left-click to change colours. It's awesome, I promise.

Congratulations... for something :)

At the risk of sound narcissistic, I almost want to send this card to myself! ; ) I've gotten so much accomplished in the last few days, I just can't even believe it!

This is a generic "Congratulations" card. I'm sure I'll be needing one of those some day. I used the exceptionally rich colour palette from ColourQ! I feel that I could have done more with this card, but was in a very simple mood; no designer paper, few embellishments, etc.
